I’m on the market to purchase a CAI kit for my 2006 GT.
I was looking at:
http://www.steeda.com/products/steed...intake_kit.php
Did you have your car tuned after install of a CAI?
A local performance body shop said they would install/tune for $100, is that overpriced?

The search button will be your best friend if you use it. This topic has been gone over several times, therefore you will find a lot of information. Everyone has their own personal preference as to what brand they think is the best. And yes, you will have to have your car tuned if you purchase a CAI that requires a tune.

Mine.
Try the search feature. There are a lot of threads plus stickies with loads of info.
All of the major CAI's are equivalent in performance. You won't see much bang-for-the-buck with just a CAI. The CAI & tune can't be beat (unless you go FI) for the RWHP addition. Go to the Brenspeed and Bamachips websites for more info and feel free to call them with specific questions. They both are 2 of the more popular vendors that provide excellent tunes and customer support.

you can get one without a tune but I'm pretty sure it's not going to do a lot for you as the stock one flows pretty well from what I've heard. I have the bbk and like it but to take full advantage of one you should still get a tune and tuner. It's such an improvement in ride quality. Even if you don't care about the added performance the way the car drives is sooo much better with a custom tune.

I have the JLT. MMFF proved it on the dyno to make the most hp, plus its one of the least expensive and most simple. even if the hp difference is marginal, it still makes more power and you spend less for it, why would you go any other way? i reccomend getting it from brenspeed with their fantastic tunes.

I love my C&L. I've used both the Street and Racer intakes. I'd go with the Racer just because I think it looks better and the slightly larger size can't hurt, plus it's cheaper. Steeda, and JLT are great intake also. Definitely get a tune, you'll gain much more from a tune then you will from an intake.
I have both a used C&L Racer and Street for sale if you want one, PM me if you're interested.
