Shattered Rear Window

Shattered Rear Window
FWIW,
Couldn't wait to get my windows tinted to save the interior from the mean old Sun. That was a couple of years back for an '05 GT.
Yesterday morning at my brother's house I came out to find my rear window was shattered! Hundreds/thousands of pieces. Someone/something had hit it, looked like from the skies above, near center line, only a couple inches off the top edge, and the whole frigging window was shattered! Apparently the only thing that kept the blamed thing from falling into the car was the window tint film.
Couldn't do anything about it over Labor Day Weekend except drive it 150 Miles home in NC and hope rain didn't happen. It didn't. Got a message in to a window guy to see what is going to happen. I hope he does the tint also.
A real bummer! But, would have been a worse bummer to find a dent in the roof or some othe part!

I apparently have $0.00 deductible on glass which is a good thing. Rear window pencils out to about $900 if you are interested. Father of the kid that did it wants to do something about it. Downside is the window guy, with whom I've done business with on my PU is looking for the "Correct" window with the "Correct" LOGO and for some reason it is not jumping into his pocket. He didn't know why at the time. He has three suppliers in NC and at the time I was talking to him he was waiting to hear from the third supplier. Reckon bottom line is we don't need have those rear window broken! He does have a good "tint" guy to replace my tint. If it was for the tint film the window would have been thousands of pieces of glass in the rear of my car. Plan to have the side windows redone while he has it, was thinking of it because they are beginning to scratch up a bit.

Just heard from the glass guy. Its a supply and demand thing. There is not much demand for rear windows on our car, which means that freaking kids don't break them often, nor to other nefarious types, nor do other breaks apparently happen often. He went to a distributor that he used to deal with and found it there. He was also hampered by the desire to get the identical glass that Ford uses, manufactured by Ford's OEM glass people. Looks like the glass will arrive Friday at this time. Now we need to worry on the window tint issue.

Holy sheet. So you did find who/what did it. Ford should be able to get you a glass in less than 1 week. I shattered the back window on my 2004 Expedition...got here in 1 wk...that was a $1,000 lesson for me. My deductible is $1K so I paid for it.....
