Well, you have 2 options. You can use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm and use the headphone jack. You get decent sound out of it. The benefit to that is you can charge the iPod at the same time. Otherwise, you can get the dock to 3.5mm cable, and you get much better sound. With that one, you can't charge at the same time.

it's the other way around. you can't charge the ipod through the 35mm jack.

uhmm, while that is true, what I mean is that if you're using a dock to 3.5mm adapter, you can't charge your iPod at the same time because the dock connector is being used only to send sound out. The 3.5mm aux jack will not charge the iPod.

I have never seen the dock to 3.5mm before!
How much better is the sound? Is it really noticable?

none of them can charge the IPOD? If so, how can you charge the ipod and be able to connect it to 3.5 mm socket?

get the belkin car kit. it plugs into the 12v power outlet. the headphone jack then gets plugged into base of the 12v socket. you have one wire coming of the center console, and it changes you iPod everytime its plugged in.

Ah that says it has a built in amplifier. Makes more sense as to why it has a better sound. It's not just relying on the power from the Ipod.
I may have to pick one up.
