Should I do it???
Here is the story; Ordered a Torch Red GT back on Feb 28th...still clean and unscheduled. Shaker 1000. red interior upgrade IUP all that with anti theft and side airbags. Ordered an automatic. Tired of waiting. Just checked with another dealer locally and next week they are going to get in a RedFire GT Shaker1000 red interior upgrade, IUP, basically the same but it is also a Manual Tranny...
The sales person said they would do a dealer to dealer trade for my ordered car with my dealer for the car they are getting next week for a 100$ surcharge.
I got fortune cookie exactly three months ago tomorrow that said something great would happen to me three months from that date. (FEB 17th). May 17th tomorrow.
JUST DO IT RIGHT????? STUPID QUESTION RIGHT???? I'll be just as happy no matter the color right???
Just tell me fellow mustang freaks and I am on it like white on rice first thing in the morning...

I faced a VERY similiar situation.
Ordered torch red, red interior, skipper1000, side air bags, full alarm, IUP, mycolor, the works. After 7 weeks, was still clean and unscheduled. Got to looking around, found two cars in the area. One was the EXACT car I had on order, except it was a stick. The other was the EXACT car except it was redfire instead of torch. I went with the stick because I was unsure of how the interior would look with the darker exterior red. But at least I did have the choice. And the manual tranny was worth it. So VERY glad I got it instead of the auto.
I realize you don't have two to choose from, but if you are good with the color, I say jump on it. Don't let the tranny choice be the deal killer, especially getting a stick over an auto. You will be much pleased with the stick choice.

Hawgman~ You are the man. I've been reading your posts for awhile. The more I read the post the more I have regreted ordering an auto. The color? Well it is still red right? I saw some pic's posted of the Redfire with the red interior and it looks good. When you dumped your order did you get your deposit back? After 12 weeks wait I am ready to say the hell with it and go with the Car that exists as oposed to the CLEAN AND UNSCHEDULED dream/nightmare.
Will I lose the deposit? 500$

You can do eeeeet!!! For Pete's sake, go for it!
...from a redfire manual GT owner...
I would think they'd have to give you your deposit back. There's no guarantee that the car you ordered will ever exist.

I had no problem getting my deposit back. A manual tranny would be a deal killer for me though. To much traffic in San Diego. If you can handle the tranny, there's no reason you shouldn't be driving the thing already.

I am down with the tranny. I live in a mostly rural area and don't spend too much time in the city. I was just thinking that the Auto would be better if I ever let the ol'lady drive it. I guess I won't let her drive it then!!! I am too stoked up. In the a.m. I am on it. Gotta do it. Can't let this chance slip away. Then I'll happy just like everyone else on this site buying more and more crap to stick on and in it. First thing in the morining...
When you put your order in, signed the VOC, and gave them the deposit, did by chance it say anywhere on the paperwork that the deposit was non refundable?
Again, something I went through. When I found the car I ended up purchasing, I tried and tried to get the dealer I ordered at to work a dealer purchase, a dealer swap, whatever. Never in my life tried so hard to give my business to someone...and they wouldn't do it. So I said screw it, bought the car from where it was located. I still had a deposit on the original order. I told them I wanted it back because nothing had been done, they said that it was non refundable ( they had cashed the check about 5 weeks prior ) and they were still holding their end of the agreement. So, I said OK, fine. The very first day after the 12 week anniversary ( because they said 12 weeks for delivery ) I drove up to the dealer, walked in, asked the salesman what the status was. He went and checked, came back and said he could not find out anything. I said "let me help you out a bit, it is still clean and unscheduled". I knew this because I had called the robot lady the day before. After a brief conversation with the dealership manager, the inventory manager, and the sales person, it was decided that they would return my deposit. They would not budge on giving it back though until after the initial promise date had passed.
