Default Spark Plugs

I have read plenty of information on here about the problems with spark plugs on the early 3V mustangs. I have a 2005 and was wondering if anyone knew how much the dealer would charge to replace the plugs since I really don't want to do this one at the house b/c it would really sucks to break a plug and that's just my luck. Anyone had their car to the dealer for plug replacement. Seems like and easy job for a dealer, these plugs are so easy to get to I was excited about that and thought it would be easy but after reading about people breaking plugs, that's a little scary......

One member tried it himself, broke one off, then towed it to the dealer to finish it. They broke 5 more and charged over $600. He got the $ back later after complaining to Ford about it since the car was still in its warranty period.

How many miles do you have right now? That should be more of a determining factor as to whether or not you do it or pay someone else.

just do the plugs yourself. its not hard. and less down time. the dealers like to take their time.

With that mileage, you could do it yourself. Just follow the TSB about how to loosen up the plugs (thats the most important step) and you should be just fine.

So nobody has a ball park of how much the dealer would charge?...I know the plugs are fairly inexpensive and if it's like $50 bucks for install I would pay it and change them myself the next time....I'm just a little worried about taking this first set out b/c of the issues Ford had with them....$50 is a lot cheaper than have one break off on me when Ford can afford to replace the head or drill it out if they break it....

They will charge you a minimum of 1 hr labor and I bet over $10 per plug for factory Autolites. Labor rates for dealers around here have crested over $100/hr.
