Targa Top Convertible

Targa Top Convertible
I have been looking into doing this for quite some time. I have researched prices, and places that are willing to do this. I have only found one thus far, so any other San Diego/L.A. people with recomendation let me know. I plan on making it similar to what a Vett has. I know this is a huge modification, and will require additional framing to support the change, but I think it would look sick. Besides one of the coolest features of the new mustang is the fastback portion of the car, and in the normal convertible you loose that.
What are some of your takes on this?
Has anyone done this yet?
EDIT: OK, Targa top is what it is called.

RE: Hard Top Convertible
I wish that had of been a factory option... I would have been all over it. It would have been awesome! I'm not a big fan of soft-tops, so I went with the coupe instead of the vert.
I would love to see a hardtop vert done however... you can be our guinea pig!!!

Well, I will be the guinea pig then. I have a place that will do it, and it isn't too expensive either. However Don, before I do it I'd like to meet you in person and show you what I've been looking at, there is a little complication with Hard Toping it, not big, but a cosmetic thing.
Also where would I store this top, I think it would have to be a two piecer, so it would fit in the trunk. A one pice would fit in the trunk, but I don't think you could get it in.

2Stangs...
I drive a BMW 325. it came with a hard top which I ended up selling it bacause I so rarely used it and it took up a LOT of space in my garage. It came with a rollabout stand that held it "on end"... you could also purchase a ceiling jack system that held it up against the ceiling.
I would assume a hard top for the Stang would be much the same.
If you develop one - you just might hav a good money making project on your hands as YOU would be the ONLY maker of such a product.
Good Luck!

RE: Hard Top Convertible
I had a Fiat Spyder with a removable hardtop (and softtop), and a pickup with a removable hard top. The tempered glass back window made the roofs HEAVY!!! It was a 2 person operation to remove and install it. Like Prof. Wizard said, it quickly ends up forgotten in the corner of the garage (the truck didn't have a soft top, so the hard top ended up never getting removed). The beauty of the ragtop is you can put the top down whenever the mood strikes, even at a stop light. You really have to plan ahead with the removable hard tops. It would be very cool looking though!
