Default Launching with an Automatic Trans... Questions

So my friend wants me to race my stang tomorrow at Qualcomm stadium... its the 1/8th mile run.
He is racing his Roush charged F150. thats putting out about 480 hp...its a beast!
Ive never raced on the strip before and im still not shure if i want to do it.

My car is an 05 V6 4.0 with no pref. mods but a Single GT takeoff muffler....I also have Automatic transmission....What sort of numbers should i expect?

How do i launch? do i turn off overdrive and stomp it? do i run it through the gears 1 2 3
and am i likley to red line it...i really dont want to red line her because i dont want to over do it...especially as im stock.

Ill be grateful for any help
Thanks
Chris

no offense or anything, but you really need help launching an auto? what is hard about apply brake, gas, let off brake, floor it? seems pretty standard but as a couple pointers i've learned from my first time out, lower you psi on your rear tires to really low prob about 22 is what a lot of guys run em or maybe 24 to be safe...pump the fronts up to about 35...traction control off, and redlining it wont hurt, thats why they have limiters for it so it wont hurt your engine

Allright thanks for thed pointers on tire pressure. I was wondering if it would be better to use my gears 1 2 3 of just keep her in dive?

if you are pretty much stock then you wont spin, i say stall it to about 1800 and just let it rip. once you get tuned by bama with that candl its gonna be different. when i had just a intake, tune, and exaust. if i hammered it right after i launched my one tire lol would spin, you have to easy into it. just gotta learn the car.

I'm guessing 15 or 16 secs. You aren't going to spin.

Turn off overdrive, leave it in D, left foot on brake, right foot on gas. At the starting line, give it as much gas as you can without breaking loose. When you see the last yellow light (dont wait to see the green), let off the brake and punch it.

FYI, don't try and do a burnout before you run. Avoid the waterbox, drive around it and just "dust off" the tires.

Keep it in Drive. The transmission will shift automatically faster than you could use your gears. Your aren't going to have problems with traction, I don't think...

How much do those Roush trucks weigh in at? Either way......left foot on brake..right foot on gas.....bring your rpms up close to 2k...or just before they break loose..and stomp it when the light turns yellow. No point in shifting.

When someone starts off "no offense" you can be sure it'll be sarcastic and offensive.

But most of the tips are right on. For sure do not shift yourself.
