what exactly is the OP cleaning?
From the responses I'm assuming it was the rim but what KIND of rim? Painted, polished or chrome?

I've never noticed anything in my stock Argent rims. The black Bullitts show the dust more but they're smooth as when they were new.

Haha I know what your saying. To be honest I probably clean my wheels about everyday, even though they dont look dirty. I am a clean freak though, well with my car anyways.

I guess thats a good reason to not let this **** cake on there for 6 months at a time... anyone else have the problem?

About a year ago my son gave me the Mothers aluminum wheel cleaner and a powerball that goes on a drill to polish with. I finally used it this past weekend on the wheels. I jacked up and took off each individual tire/wheel and washed, polished and waxed the inside of the wheels. I should have done that when it was new because there were some spots the wheel cleaner couldn't get off. But, it did do a great job. They look near new again. The outside of the wheels get washed weekly or more so they don't get a tough build up.

Sounds like those wheels haven't been washed in awhile. My wheels stay fresh and so clean!

Sounds like the rims need a clearcoat. Aluminum is very porous and the brake dust will get absorbed. My rims have a clearcoat on 'em...the dust wipes right off. But I know what your going through, my Buick had aluminum rims with no coating..friggin nightmare to clean.

Yeah, at the rate I'm generating brake dust with the GT 500, I won't have any pads left by 5000 miles! I clean my car about once a week......and just can't seem to keep the brake dust at bay! Mothers wheel cleaner, a soft brush, rinse and then hand wipe with a microfiber......only thing I've found that works....

To eliminate this problem just change out your pads to Ceramic. I changed to Raybestos Ceramic and have virtually no dust. Run them on all (3) of my Fords

I gotta agree 'bout the GT500......that's a mega brake-dust producer, and that's driving it slow like a maw-maw.
