Default Sticker of 32,290.00 = how much markup?

Hey guys,

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm actually talking to a dealer about trading in my brand-new 6 vert for a GT vert. I've got them down to sticker price (gee thanks), what I'm wondering is what is the actual dealer cost if the sticker is 32,290? Not that I can deal them down that far, I'm just trying to figure out how much bargaining leeway I might have. I'm thinking the sticker is 2500 to 3000 over dealer invoice, is that about right? Does dealer invoice represent what they paid for it or is that inflated too? Many thanks!

you want under MSRP, specially with your trade in.

Find out exactly what options are on the car then go to the Ford Vehicles web site and build it. They will give you the invoice price and the MSRP.

Oh I know what I want, but what they're offering isn't what I want just yet

That doesn't show invoice, only MSRP.

Thanks, Edmunds and Autobytel both show a 2500 difference between sticker and invoice. I've seen a sheet posted somewhere on these forums that showed the exact dealer costs, the dealer invoice amount and the MSRP for the base models and all the options. That's just what I need, but of course I can't find it now [:@]

Oh wait, I just found that feature on Edmunds where you can price options too. And it is dead-on accurate on the pricing too. It looks like the 32,290 price has an invoice price of 29,559. so the markup is 2731 not including the 3% holdback. Man, they're making a killing on these Mustangs!

Thanks for the tips

When you have a hot product you can make the killing. It sucks but hey, what are you going to do, wait until the price comes down in 2010?

go to www.Edmunds.com and build your car to what you want and they will give you 3 prices. Invoice price, what the dealership supposidly (i know my spelling sucks, i'm a sailor, not a writer), MSRP or Sticker (Manufactor Suggested Retail Price), and then what others in your area (according to the zip code you put in) are paying. that'll give you some bargaining power. I got mine for a grand under MSRP, but i know the dealer. The dealer said he could easily turn my car around and sell it for 30 grand. i called and visited other ford dealerships and tried to ask for the price i was paying and everyone laughed at me and said no way. i also am getting an extra 500 cash back for being a recent college grad. if you aren't a recent college grad, then if you are in the military, you can get 500 cash back for serving your country. you can only have 1 or the other though, not both...if it was that, i'd be paying 500 under invoice. I hope that helps dude. Later.
