Default Anyone had a dealership install a hurst short throw?

Topic...I'm not THAT mechanically inclined and don't really wanna screw up something as important as the shifter or the tranny, but I'd like to install a short throw - probably the Hurst. So I'm just wondering if anyone has had a Ford dealer install the Hurst since it's in the Shelbys. Also, I suppose if I bought it from them and had them install it, it would probably still be covered under warranty.

do it yourself, seriously, its very simple. you will not screw anything up and have the satisfaction knowing you did it. Not to mention it'll save you some money

IF you can jack your car up and get under it, then you can install a short throw shifter. It is only a matter of removing a couple of bolts, taking the old shifter out, and bolting the new one in.

It will be covered by your warranty. I had a dealer do it simply because I had no way to get under the car.

LOL i just did this. I had my dealer install the Hurst in my stang for the warranty to still remain on the trans. So they cant say " Oh well who installed this STS and how do we know that the trans linkage was hooked up right" If for some reason i have to bring the lil girl in for maybe a blow 2nd or 3rd gear... The funny thing is they hooked it up wrong. I got my Stang home and something just did not look right to me. So i popped the shifter boot off and there she was a bad DEALER install. they had the linkage block flip flopped (aka they had the short side on the drivers side). I was RED HOT thinking that a SVT/Roush/Saleen Dealer maybe had a F'en person that had the know how on putting STS's in. So 30 minz later all was well and the dealer still think they did the job right. Love the Hurst STS i just have the comp/sport one and its fine. Not sure if you doing anything but putting Ets down all day where you would want the billet one or maybe ya have the extra $$$ to burn.

Shifter install is easy but requires jacking up the stang and
doing it properly with jack stands. Unless you dig a ditch in
the yard and pull the stang over it.
If you can chew gum and walk at the same time, you can install
a shifter. Just dont put it in backwards like some do.

You may want to check out this months mustang mags. MM&FF (or 5.0 mustang) did a real world shifter comparo on short throws where they took three owners and had them drive four or five different types of shifters and grade them. I think the B&M scored the highest, and coincidently it was the one none of them had on their ride.
