i took off the o/r h and the o/r x and sent every muffler packing.....borla,flows,corsa...etc.
i tried every exhaust configuration on the 3v....imo, they all sound "off"...i put the stock h on and the boomtubes, and i am satisfied....put the other set of boomtubes on my wife's car, thanks to timeforpain's vids.......i have my sanity back...ahhhhhhhhhh

i bet everyone on this site has tried at LEAST two exhaust set-ups, right?

I've only had one exhaust set up and I love it! My kooks o/r x and long tube headers with my magnaflow set up sounds amazing! No rattling, and sounds perfect to me. It's not as deep and rumbly as the 99-04's but when rev'd up it sounds A LOT more impressive. Maybe try that!

Well I seem to be following you on your path. I currently have Flows (stock H w/cats), but they are too quiet. I will be switching to the pypes muffler delete axleback.

I do plan on doing LT in the future, but will go with a cat system. I know a friend that went with LT & the pypes I am going to install & his car did not sound right....

Do you have borlas on the GT500 S? cause the 4V motor is a whole different beast with different sounds to match or is it on the slushbox?

I am on my 3rd set-up. I bought my car used and the previous owner had flow 40 series. They sounded good at start-up, but had alot of drone. AT WOT they sounded just okay. Next I went with JBAs. I got these from a friend for $150. No complaints with these. Good mellow tone and sound better at WOT than the flows. Now I have Magnapacks. These have a deeper rumble than both the flows and JBAs. So far this is the best set-up I have had and one of the best ones I have heard in person.

The Borla's are on the slushbox.
