GT500 conversion questions, and stealership price quote
Ok, so I've spent the last hour at the stealership.
Printed the part number list on here and went on to the parts department.
Gave them the list and I asked for " cost " price.
After about 2 minutes of interogation, on why I'm asking for wholesale prices I gave them the " car club " story and they bought it.
so 1422.35 cents for all the parts except the hood.
all good and dandy.
I head over to the colision department to try and get a total price out of them.
Wasted the first 30 minutes on watching the guy look up the part numbers in " list " prices
about 1866 and some change..
Anywho, here's the low down.
$3145 to prep paint and install the whole thing ( this price does not include the trufiber hood price and shipping , just prep and paint )
to brake it down a bit for those with questions ( I have some too , I'll ask at the end )
they are charging me a total of 28.6 hours of labor which is a grand total of $1431
That did not sit right with me.
So.. Pascal, or mellow, Could you guys PM me and guide me a bit please
Also, what strategy did you guys find best when dealing with these crooks.
I don't know how much I can pull the " sell me the wholesale price parts cuz I'm in the carclub " trick..
I'm also thinking about purchasing the small stuff first ( like today ) and wait for the headlights and bumper and hood till next month when I have the conversion planned to take place.
Anyways, wall of text here, I need opinions, ideas, and YOUR story on this issue for the ones that did it. Thank ahead of time.

dont go through the dealership at all, i tried and it was much more expensive.
You can buy all the parts through worldpartsexpress.com at the wholesale price. The only problem is you have to pay frieght shipping of $130, so you want to order everything at once, including the rear bumper if youre going to change that too.
Then take the parts to body shop to paint and install.
I was able to do the whole front end conversion with an HID headlight kit for around $1800
where do u live? if you are florida i can recommend a good shop

I bought all my GT500 front end parts from Kevin Casey @ Clevenger Ford in California (559.784.6000). Including shipping, my cost was less than that mentioned by nmd55 (I didn't get the HID's) and it included everything required to do the change out (all parts, hardware, fog light wiring harnessess, etc). I also purchased my Trufiber Venom Hood through him.
He is a wonderful person to do business with and I would defintely recommend him!

Thanks guys.
nmd55 I'm in jacksonville FL.. A bit far away from tampa..
I was thinking about ordering the parts through the dealership since I would not have to pay shipping. Granted they do give me the wholesale price.
05 Mustang
how much was the whole shabang ? paint and all.. I only have $ 3000-3500 to do this in my budget for next month. and that should include all parts, hood, install and paint.
I think Mellow did the whole install on his own if memory serves me right.
Don't get me wrong though. I can do the install of pretty much everything except the hood. And I think the headlights need alignement.. which I wouldn't want to mess up..
other than that should be cake.. heck I put airplanes toghether for a living..

i added the brake duct bezels cause they looked cool.
The fog light wiring harness is 51.20 and apparently u need that for 2 small pieces of plastic.
In hindsight u dont need right and left fendor liners, and the upper radiator shield, can reuse gt ones. You also dont need the lower valence panel but i think it adds alot.
Hope this helps!

isnt the lower valance panel the chin spoiler ? if so I HAVE to have it .. love that silly little thing.. lol
Cameron, I'll give you a call in a bit man. thx for all the info. I'm writing all this down now..
nmd55 2049 without the hood.. sounds like a good deal. Although I need to get the hood on and painted too for no more than $ 3500
