Pioneer AVIC-F900BT
So, if you ever spend time trolling the for-sale section you would have seen that I sold my AVIC-D3.
Well, today I picked up my brand new AVIC-F900BT. I will take some pics on the install. After looking through everything, it looks like there are only a few minor changes with the installation of this and the D3.
REVIEW!!!
Well having the D3 already and now upgrading to this unit is a plus. The first being it has on-board memory so no more annoying disk changing. This unit also has a much more graphical appealing menu system. It's not just square boxes like the older Pioneers had. At first load up the system is very slow and laggy, but by the time you are ready to do something, it's well booted up and has about the same access speed as the other units.
You do get Microsoft Direct with this unit. It's free for the first 90 days, so I signed up for that to see how it is. It appears that there is no gas station data available in my area. It shows the prices and will navigate you to it, but it doesn't show the name before hand.
Some have complained about the BT Phone feature being horrible but I tried both and incoming and outgoing call and the other party said it sounded fine to them. I will see how it goes while moving tomorrow.
You can control the iPod video portion with this unit which is something you couldn't do with the D3.
Here's some quick pictures...
So this where I put the microphone...
The wire is completely hidden, the balck crease you see is from the windshield.. (It's not the wire)
This is the screen...

No problem. I will be subscribing to the MSN Direct as well.
-I just got through soldering the wires to the harness and doing the bypass. The bypass is pretty much the same as the D3. Take out one of the wires and put it in a different spot.

Yes it sure does have an iPod interface.
So the headunit is in. I didn't tighten down the screws yet, cause I know there was a firmware update. I wanted to get it installed and working before finishing up, incase it crashes or something.
