Default Electric Power Steering

I was reading a review of the new Acura TL and one of the things that was mentioned was an electric power steering pump (as opposed to the pulley driven systems that every other car has).

I was wonder, as I am considering a jump to an electric water pump in the relatively near future, about the existence of an electric power steering pump.

I have never seen one, nor heard of one before this article. I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard of one and if there are any aftermarket ones available, or even in R&D?

There are other cars with electric power steering. The TL is not the 1st.

Others:
NSX
S2000
MR2
Fiero (I'm not sure if it ever really made it into production, but supposedly a few 88's got the system)

You might want to look into using some of their parts, or check out the setup from Flaming River.
