Question A "cool" night in Georgia!!!

finally the temp has droped to around 55, and i love it and so does my car....
but there is a problem....it loves it too much!!!! went out tonight to practice a few launches on a newly paved(asphalt) road and it was ridiculous....i installed the two step from Msd and got a chance to try it....holds the rpms great.....i set it to 3500 and nothing but smoking tires...then 3k, same thing....then 2500, same thing....it was insane....first gear was useless because of all the wheel spin and second shifting at 6k put me into the next "lane"......third lit up with very little effort at all, since i was just trying launnches and second gear shifts.....i have a few toys that are all manuals, but this gt is an animal....i have been driving mustangs, firebirds, camaros, and vettes since i got my first mustang cobra in 1993.....i have never had this much wheel spin....and when i say second gear puts me in the next lane, I mean it!!!!! then a quick shift to third to bring the car under control and it still smokes them....i have 4;10's and 255 45 18 kdw2's.......haven't had this "problem" when it's hot...but this motor loves cold air, imagine that...any advice? i think i need more rubber on the ground......what's a good size and wheel????? the car felt like i had toyota spare tires on it......for those wondering what road and safety, i did it on a mile long stretch with no houses out on a newly paved country road.....my car is tuned by doug and has a "few" bolt on mods and juice(but) i did not even use the tank, but this is insane...please advise

Do you have lower control arms yet?

Edit: i dont see anything about suspension in your write up, if that is the case.. aftermarket lower control arms will make an unbelieveable difference!

I know from experience as I have the KDW-2's. Summer only tire...the colder it gets the more useless they get. That's why I'm switching to an all season.

You are sooo correct! It even advertises that when you read the ad's on them. I have that tire as well (but 20's and a stiffer side wall) and they are useless. Thats why they are advertised as a Summer High performance tire.....

I believe it acts like a mid-range rpm limiter. I think it cuts ignition off when a user set rpm is reached. If you have a manual you press the clutch to the floor as well as the gas. It allows you to maintain a steady mid-range launch rpm which allows you to focus more completely on the tree for when you are at the strip. You simply let off the clutch and off you go. I think its only active when the clutch is fully depressed. As for use in an automatic, I have no idea how it works if it does at all. Look it up on youtube. It sounds really neat.

i went to the MSD website to learn more about this and it says like if you have a transbrake you can set it to limit the rpms when the transbrake is activated that way you can consistant launches..you can do the same with linelock to make sure your burnouts are consistant as well...
