Default What kinda block can I use with stock heads and tranny?

Yeah yeah, it's me again with the same dilemma, which is trying to stay N/A. The cam part ended with a 30hp gain and 2k spent. Heads seem to be too expensive for the HP gain they provide. Another thing I was looking at is changing the stock block for either a 5.0 (which I don't think will be worth it) or a 5.4. So my question is what will work with the stock auto tranny and the stock heads? I've seen one of the guys on this forum who's got a 5.4 in his GT, but I forgot who it was and never really asked him all the details because it was not something I was considering at that point. Thanks in advance

Have you ever thought about putting a stroker assembly in to stroke it to a 5.0?

MMR 351R FTW! Was thinking about the same thing as you except I eventually want to supercharge the stang. They say that everything from the 3v will bolt right on, including the head/headers. Oh and if you can't calculate it thats 5.8 liters.

I guess I missed the reasoning behind not going FI. So why not?
$2k for 30hp is frankly embarrassing and reason enough, if any were needed, that FI is quite simply the best bang for buck - period.

FI as in forged internals? I'm not quite sure what gains I can expect from that. As you can see I'm not too knowledgeable with HP related mods since it's my first Stang. Thanks to the forum members I learned a lot about suspension though.

FI is the generally accepted abbreviation for Forced Induction.

If you were on a tight budget I'd say otherwise, but as you're looking at ladelling $$ into 5.4 blocks etc, I fail to see the reasoning.

The thing is I'm a big fan of N/A. I rather spend 4k on a 5.4 that will add 80-90hp than spend 4500 on a blower that will give me 130-150hp. It feels like the power is always there. You can step on it at 2500rpm and still feel it while with some cheaper SC's (Vortech) you have to be at over 4k for it to kick in

if you want the feel of a big engine, saleen s/c would be perfect for you. If you are dead set on N/A then definately go for it! ford racing sells the 5.4 engine for 15 grand which i find pretty rediculous in all honesty

See I was looking at something like this here, but I'm not sure if it will work:

And this guy is using a F-150 engine:

I wonder what he needed for the swap
