Default XCal 2 Question

Hello all,
I have the opportunity to pick one of these up for $100.

1. Is this a good price?
2. Is it even worth getting one of these if am MT and I don't have a CAI? (I do plan on getting one. But I'd be interested in putting in a 93 octane tune right away)
3. How do you go about transferring a tuner? I thought they were programmed to be used only with the original car.

Thanks in advance!

if its unlocked its a good deal... if its not it will cost you 150 bucks and shipping to sct to unlock... and buy tunes... which are 3 for 100 bucks or 1 for 50... if your strategy code doesnt match also you will be buying tunes anyways...

Thanks, thats good to know about locked/unlocked. What's the best way to check this?
I don't mind buying the tunes. I figured I'd be doing that anyway.
Thanks again for the quick response.

Actually, you can unlock it yourself using SCT's Live Load program.
There are 5 changes in vehicle allowed before it needs to be sent back.

I unlocked one myself just last week.

Oh, and You will defintely see improvements even without a CAI.
Send me a private messageif you are interested in a slightly used (6 months) C&L intake (I need the SCT tuner). I'd unload it really cheap. Everything is included...

Great info! Thanks.
I'll let you know about the intake if I pick up the tuner.
To be honest though, I was actually thinking about picking up a K & N so I could run the car in the stock tune if I needed to. I know I'd give up some HP but I don't feel like taking the intake off every time I go to the dealer.
Thanks again.

The BBK also doesnt need a tune and I believe is better than the K&N, also what he said was true about you can unlock it using sct's livewire program but also the vehicle your buying it off of needs to have the stock tune put back on his car. If he did not return his car to stock then you will be sending 150 bucks to SCT to unlock...

More excellent information. Thanks!
If the BBK indeed doesn't require a tune then I'd definitely rather that over an K&N. Thanks again.
