throttle body has a butterfly type of plate that opens and closes depending on the location of your throttle pedal. The more you push on the pedal the more the plate opens, the more air comes into the engine, thus accelarating the car. The plate hooks up to a sensor (tps) that lets the computer know the location of the plate so it can give fuel accordingly so the air/fuel mix is just right. Now a usually mod is to increase the diameter of the throttle body to be able to get more air in to make more power.

yep i have one. Got it long ago actually. For a N/A car you wont see many gains at all. You might see a little more throttle response but not really HP increase. If you do have all bolt on and are considering heads or cams then you might see some gains but again small. I will say i have never had any problems with it at all. Most aftermarket TBs have had some issues and throw codes or cause the car to not operate correctly.
For $400 i would spend money elsewhere. I got mine for $225 and that was with the adapter too.

I've had my GT500 TB installed for about 4 months now and no problems. I believe having an Auto is an advantage to limiting the potential TB problems because with the transmission engaged, it helps hold the revs down (after-market TBs tend to have that problem... especially on manuals). Other than GT500 TB, the ones I see most often (sucessfull) are BBKs. As for horsepower, BBR got 10-11 hp peak and 8 throughout the range on HEAVILY modded GT... I have all the bolt-ons and expect it was only a more modest 5 or 6 hp gain at this point. It should be one of the last (if ever) mods you undertake since the hp/cost ratio isn't very high. Hope that helps.
