Default Attaching 1/4 window louvers, which adhesive?

I just picked up some saleen 1/4 window cover and the way they are designed, 2 sided tape is going to be pretty tricky. I've talked to a few others with these same louvers and they have said that 3m probably isnt the best route. Whats a good adhesive i could use that wont damage the paint? I'm thinking something like clear rtv silicone or some sort of caulking, liquid nails, etc?

It would help if you post a few pics of the backside of the louver. Will it attach to the glass or body? Without seeing anything, I'd still have to say 3M tape. Besides being proven, its highly configurable. I doubt those other items you mentioned would hold up over the course of time.

Glad to see more PSU fans here. My oldest son and I are alumni...

Did they not come with instructions? The install instructions can be downloaded from their website ... and they do not use double-sided tape ... some sort of urethane caulking I believe ..

the way they are made on the backside is they are flat then there is raised part then its flat, like this _^_ . The raised part fits into the groove that goes around the window, between the glass and paint. So you can actually set them in the groove and they'll stay there but of course if you bump it or move it they'll fall off. The flat section on each side of the raised section is very small, maybe 1/4 inch so you'd really have to trim down some 3m tape. I have not seen any instructions for them, none came with mine. I think an adhesive of some sort would work best, i just dont want to harm the paint if i decide to remove them at a later date.

I wish I was alumni, I got accepted for graphic design but missed a deadline so had to wait until the following fall to start so i joined the Air Force. I am a PA native though

This is the groove area that Nate refers to. The outside groove rests on the paint of the car, the raised lip sits inside the groove separating the window and paint, and the inside groove is made for the adhesive.....
I personally used welders contact cement, as the contact was strictly on glass, not paint....

Nate, go to this link, then go to parts, and do a search on quarter window louvers. There is a pdf on the instructions....I would suggest maybe just going by a glass shop, and seeing if they could hook you up with the suggested adhesive.....

Mike, will do. I'll probably just use what you used. Where did you get it?

ok so looking at the instructions, did they put the tape on the glass then glue the louver to the tape?
