Default Pypes mid muffler alignment/gas tank

I put my catted mid-pipe back on today (getting inspected next month) and started checking everything under there. The mid-mufflers come within 1/4'' of the gas tank covers and the over-axle pipe on the passenger side comes within 1/4'' of the panhard support.

you guys with this setup... any ideas how to provide more clearance? If the exhaust shakes 1/4'' either way it's making contact. probably been running like this for awhile and haven't heard anything under acceleration but I'm sure something is making contact. took it to an exhaust shop to have the hangers re-welded and they wanted to modify the cat-back pipe to make everything work better. that's probably what I'll let them do unless there's another trick to it.

when i first installed mine it was the same way. you just have to turn the pipes and mufflers to the right angles and it wont even be close to rattling. Mine has been on for 3months with no rattles

you were exactly right, bro. I loosened EVERYTHING from the mid-pipe back and started moving/bending and re-tightening. It's still a really close fit but I just gave it a WOT test run and it sounds GREAT! The off-road pipe and/or the alignment was introducing some really bad resonance. It sounds just like this now but with the lower rumbling of the H-pipe. I'm a happy man again!

I'm beginning to think you can't have a great sounding exhaust at ALL rpm's with an off-road pipe on these cars... the cats kill the trumpeting completely.
