WHY MY MILES ARE GOING UP SO FAST.
hey guys this might be a stupid question. but if my new gt was supposed to have 3.55 gears but might have 3.31 would the miles driven go up faster if computer wasnt re-set? odometer says i have driven a thousand miles since i bought it. i know i like to drive but my rides to work are 20 milkes each way tops. the reason i think i have 3.31 is bc this morning i took her to 120 running with a new maxima and i was in fourth gear at like 5k. in my 07 gt with the 3.55 gears i would have to shift to 5th at redline at 120 mph.
There should be a sticker right on the differential cover that tells the gear ratio.
Also, the speedometers are not known to be terribly accurate on these things.
Mine says I'm going faster than I actually am - about 3-5 mph depending on what speed I'm going - compared to GPS unit.
That will add more miles...

i just pulled my tune off my car and i have 3.73's and factory is a 3.27 i believe. so of my model V6's has 2.93's lol. but anyway after taking my tuner off, my speedo reads high. so ill have to deal with it until i purchase a new one.

What does your window sticker say (assuming you saved it)? I truly doubt the dealer changed your gears. In addition to the tag that should be on the rear axle housing, the door sticker has a code for the (factory) gear size.
If you're still not sure, either verify it with a GPS or hop on the interstate and run 10 miles, comparing the mile markers to the odometer.

if your computer thinks you have 3.55's and you really have 3.31's your miles would actually go up slower...and if you had 3.31's and you computer thought you had like 5.30's or something your miles would go up A LOT less than they actually are...likewise if you have 3.55's but your car thinks you have 3.31's your miles will go up faster than they should
