Default has anybody cut these off of their s197's?

ok so obviously not everybody is gonna pay $114 for billett covers for those nuts under the hood...so i went down to the hardware store today and found some acorn style nuts that i think i can get to work and look really really good, but first off has anybody cut off the top part of the very middle screw, it looks like it wouldnt do any harm to just chop it off, and i need it off so the acorn nut will fit over it...any thoughts?

the central, square part of the stud is for gripping when removing the nut. Cut that part off and you may run into probelms later if/whenyou need/want to swap out the strut

yeah definitely dont cut the stud off. Home depot has some rubber ends that they use on pvc pipes and other stuff. Those will work good

Real bad idea!

Those hardware store chrome acorn nuts are at best a low grade soft steel but in many cases they are nothing more than plated pot metal. Either way it's a bad idea.

Exactly.

There are some dress-up kits on ebay that aren't TOOOO expensive. But I like your idea (with the exception of cutting the strut stud).

Don't cut it. Another choice would be to go to your local auto parts store and buy some appropriately size vacuum plugs, as used on carb'd cars. They'll fit over the bolts, and are dirt cheap.
