do all 4.10s whine during high rpms?
I found a guy on another forum who does gear installs on the side, came recommended from a couple other guys. the price is definately right. The only thing is when i asked him about "no whine", he said that all his installs are quiet at cruising speeds, but that most all 4.10s will whine just a little bit in the higher rpms, like 4500 +.
is this true? or does the guy just need a little more practice??

Higher ratio gears tend to be a little less efficicent, and a little noisier. Just the way it is. More teeth meshing at high speeds will make more noise.
When he says rpm's, he's talking about the diff (I hope), and not the engine.

You will have some more "noise" with them probably, whine on the other hand can be hit or miss. Saddle is having problems with her 3.73s and some unwanted whine. I have noticed some slight whine with mine too. But the smile on my face with my 4.10s is worth the little whine i hear every so often

i figure a little bit of noise is ok. with my exhaust i doubt i'd hear it in that rpm range anyway!
one more question.....once you get the gears installed, is it advised to change the fluid after break in? maybe after a 500 or 1000 miles?
