Default Summer tires....

So..with the weather getting colder I was wondering how effective summer tires are when it is around 40 degrees. When I bought the tires ( Nitto 555 extreme's) I read something about how they lose their effectivness when it is under 40 degrees and that they will wear down quicker in colder weather. I was thinking about putting my stock bullits/perelli's back on if this is the case. The car will be stored for the winter ..... so it's just a matter of time before she comes off the road anyway.

Summer tires lose their grip in colder (but still above freezing) weather due to the rubber compound getting harder with decreasing temperature. Keep your foot out of it and watch your speed in turns and you'll be fine until... "hibernation".

If they're all seasons, then yes. May not be dramatically better but still better.

i haven't heard of them wearing faster, but they definitely don't grip as well.
