the dreaded dead battery issue
my 08 i just picked up wouldnt start when i took it for a test drive. i had the salesman grab a booster box and she fired right up. been great ever since. but i know when i go to new orleans next week for halloween i am going to have my brother start her up and run her around the block every other day just so i dont come back after 5 days to a dead car.
My 07 did this if I forgot to actually turn the radio OFF before shutting the car down. Also make sure nothing is plugged into any of the outlets... This has just become a shutdown ritual for me, so I don't think about it much anymore. I'm not sure if the 09 has the same problem, but it sits for a week at a time and always starts up.
Are you guys kidding me? This is the "nature of the beast" these days with cars? That's a total crock of you know what.
This is the only car I've ever read complaints about w/regard to this issue. I have a 1990 civic that can sit for 3 weeks and starts right up. If this is the nature of the beast nowadays then we have taken a step backwards not forwards. What bologne.
And yes mine has done this once. It sat for 5 days after a long drive. Totally dead. Had to jump it. I think it's a design issue and in my case I am not sure what caused it since the car had sat before for even longer periods with no issues. Then wham all the sudden dead. As far as I could tell nothing was left on.

My Stang has just sat for 3 weeks. I'll be leving in 3 days on a road trip. I know it'll start. It has sat longer than that. If I had to keep a tender on it I'd seriously consider getting rid of it. I suppose FORD may no longer stand for "F**ked On Road Daily". More like "F**ked Or Recharge Daily".
Same here. If the car goes dead on me again inexplicably I'm taking it to the dealer and starting the process. If they can't fix it and end up giving me some crap about having to drive it every few days then it's time to retain an attorney and start talking lemon law arbitration.
Sure hope it doesn't come to that.

Mine has been OK but I put a "float charger" on it during the winter (while it is covered) in my garage. This will be the second winter for it. Last spring it fired up like a new car .........no problem. I would be careful what type charger you use. A "trickle" charger can over-charge the battery and ruin it.
this happened under warranty a couple times and the dealer checked the alternator and battery and said it was good. its definately NOT supposed to be "the nature of the beast", even my P.O.S. Mustang II can sit for month(s) and still fire right up.
im going to play with the multimeter and the fusebox, but i hoped there had been a solid solution to this by now - maybe a T.S.B. or something. if it IS the shaker system, is it due to a faulty head unit, faulty amp, or does nobody know that.
oh and btw ANALyser, in case you forgot this IS America and we still do have the right to FREE SPEACH. i see absolutely nothing racist at all, if ANYTHING its stereotyping someone based on religion which clearly isnt rasict. the facts speak for themselves in the first picture, WTF was obama doing for our country before the last few years? now look at what mccain has done during his lifetime to serve this country. the fox news thing.... well i just found that to be funny ;P

Other than the Shaker system's amp continuing to draw power with the ignition off (and I'm not sure that holds true for ALL S197's), I'm not sure anyone considers this "faulty" other than a nuisance, the "cure" being NOT leaving the Shaker system on. No TSB to my recollection...
