Default General Questions from a foxbody guy

I have a 93 cobra project that I just finished and am looking at starting a 05-08 gt build. I'm wanting a fun fast street car that will be able to lay some low 12's down and drive anywhere to do it.

Is there any difference/benefit in 05 models to 08's?? 05 seems to be cheaper to pick up
Is the auto trans ok or does it have to be beefed up to handle a blower.
I'm thinking a blower would get me where I want to be whipple/kb...etc

Anything to lookout for or other input?? Thanks in advance.

there's really no benefit to going with a newer model that i can think of. there are some guys running big power through the stock auto trans. granted, you'll want to upgrade the torque converter and whatnot, but you shouldn't need to do much to the trans itself if you're only looking for low 12's. and yes, a blower will get you there fairly easily. you might want some streetable DR's and a few suspension mods (LCA's mainly), but it shouldn't be that hard.

I agree with Texotic but would like to add that the '05 model year cars have a few more issues than '06 and up. Remember that this was the first year they were out so there were still a few bugs to be worked out.

If you want low 12's in an auto all you need is drag radials and just about any of the major blowers there are will get you there. Add exhaust for sound and a bit of a higher stall on the TC and beef up the rear suspension and you may tickle the 11's
