Default Kenwood dnx5120 install help

Tried the audio section but it aint getting much traffic so I will try here. Bought this headunit the other day to replace my Shaker 500 and will be here in a couple of days. In the mean time trying to put together a list of items will need for the install. I know I will need to get the dash install kit and ipod cable. Do I need to get a wiring harness and/or a volt regulator for this type of headunit. I have read the installs for the D3 and was wondering how closely can just follow that install since not much info on the dnx5120 direct install.

you will need a volt regulator and a wiring harness. Dont use the mounting kit faceplate though. The kenwood comes with a plate that matches the mustang perfectly and looks way better. Also I used a transistor instead of a voltage regulator, I just attached it to the main power cable and it works great. The radio is really a great radio and you will be sooo happy with how it looks.

Is there a big difference between the kenwood one and the ford one??

How close can I follow this install?

Thats a good tutorial and you can honestly still use the ford mounting faceplate. I just like the kenwood one because it matches the mustangs interior so perfectly(but there is a small gap as you can tell in the pictures) Both mounting faces will work great

I have the same headunit. I need to get a update disc for the roads, its not very updated but everything else works great. How much did you pay for it?

I have the Kenwood DNX7120, install is very eazy to do. You have lots of space in the consel and behine where the unit installs.
