Well I went with the Diehard, got home, installed it, and now I have to take it back. The Group 35 is not the correct battery for our cars. It does not clear the hood, it's too damn tall. The hood won't close.

Wait, I just realized. I have a HO Whipple Kit. Did we have to relocate the battery? I don't recall......

Just a FYI....I'm going to just buy the Motorcraft instead.

Damn, I just ran by sears and measured all the batteries there. The only one the same height as ours is a B3 (didn't get group size). Its short and wide with terminal recessed into the battery. Its around 7 inches tall at the highest point. ALL the other betters are more like 9 inches tall. This sucks.

Did more research. If you got the large battery in your car, its a 590 CCA group 40r battery. Almost 11" long.

I've never had any bad luck with Optima batteries, I'vw had one in my old truck since 1999!!!!! Still good..... I got one in my Stang, a red top, no problems, fit in like a glove..... If you got warranty issues, buy them from Auto Zone or Advance, they will test it, if it's bad, you get a new one (so as long as its in the free replacement period). They go for about 180 at Auto Zone...... Never had a problem with Optimas though

I just switched to the red top a couple of weeks ago after several dead starts w/ the factory. Dropped it in, cranked up quick and easy, no issues as of yet, I love it
