Mustang would be hard to beat with the prices out there. Challengers that I have looked at get pretty pricey when you go leather & 20's. Dodge dealers aren't ready to deal on them yet.

I love our cars and all, but I'm sorry theres no way a stock GT takes a WRX its just not happening. For the money I would obviously take a Mustang over anything else (especially a ricer), but I still can't argue with the fact that the WRX pulls like a beast on the road, never seen one run at the track sadly.

You may be thinking of the STi version. The WRX in 2.0l trim is 225 hp, and the later 2.5ls are 240ish hp. The STi is 300. and no, they don't pull on a Mustang GT. The STis run faster in the quarter mile because they can launch with AWD; a good driver can get a 1.6 60 ft on stock tires, vs a 2.1ish for stock tires on a Mustang. I had a WRX for six years, slightly modded, roughly at 280ish hp. Still wouldn't pull on a Mustang. It was a fun car, and when the boost hit it *felt* really good, but not as fast as a Mustang.

When I got my Mustang, the requisite highway 'test' against a friend of mine in his lightly modded STi had us neck & neck.

You can get Challenger R/Ts for @ or slightly below MSRP now. But yes, the Mustang is still going to be thousands cheaper. Give it a year or two if Chrysler is still around and maybe it will be a bit more competitive pricewise. With the 2010 Mustang coming out soon though - it may not be so competitive performancewise.

I've always heard that a stock STI and a stock GT are pretty much a driver's race with the STI possibly having a slight edge just because of the launch. It doesn't take many a mod before the Mustang is passing the STI. Or so I've been told..

Where you guys see new GT prices amazes me... By me in north Jersey, you can't touch a brand new GT , Deluxe for that matter under 28-29k Most V6's are 26 27k!!!

I love my Mustang GT as my daily driver but I gotta tell you, I have owned forty plus cars in my life and NOTHING is as insanely fast as my Z06. 505 HP on 3000 pounds of aluminum and carbon fiber. How's 90 mph in second gear sound? The C6 Z06 is a beast that demands respect because if you don't, your time on this planet will be short lived. Check out this quick video but don't blink.

That's pretty much my dream. Z06 or a ZR1 for the fun weekend driver. Mustang for a DD.

Unfortunately situation being as it is I'm going to have to settle for something else. I am ofcourse jealous.

I do like having both but I've gotta say, overall I take more enjoyment from my Mustang. The Z is like a radical amusement park ride. Fun for a while. This was my previous car. Now this on the other hand was very enjoyable and much more comfortable. It also cost twenty grand less than the Z.
