Default s197 GT price differences

Comparing with the cost and performance with other cars the mustang seems to be the best.

Challenger R/T $30,000 0-60 5.1 1/4 low 13's
Camaro SS $30,000 0-60 4.5 1/4 low 13's
Infiniti G37 $37,000 0-60 4.9 1/4 low 13's
Mustang GT $26,00 0-60 5.1 1/4 high 13's

Also I've found Mustang GT's new selling for about maybe $22,000 almost $20,000. I was at the dealer the other day and he just wouldnt let me go, kept going lower and lower from $27,000 to about $21,000 for a new GT.

seems like the mustang gt seems like its the best bang for the buck as far as the 2005-08 models go.

I would agree that its the best bang for the buck. Next I would have to say corvette. Even though its $48k plus. You get amazing performance for that price. But I guess you could just get a base GT for $22k and slap a $6k whipple on it and be done.

Road and Track tested the 6speed Challenger R/T. The gearing didn't help that car at all, as it did 0-60 in 6.2 and the 1/4 mile in 14.5

The road and track test got exceptionally horrible times. If you look at the mopar forums people are doing much better than that.

I got my car brand new for 21k, so for that price I would have to give it the nod for best bang for the buck. However at normal prices I would have to give it to the corvette. A car that runs low tens with hardly more than a turbo kit or sc kit should almost be illegal.

Road and Track was the exception. One person in the challenger forum got a 13.6 in the 1/4 with his R/T.

And we know owners never 'stretch the truth' about the performance of their cars.

Given the weight and horsepower, the Challenger R/T will be very 'challenged' to even get mid to high 13's in stock trim and tune.

I got my GT/CS for 27K down from 32K....I'd have to agree....i've raced several G35's and 350Z's (basically the same car) as well as subaru WRX with turbo's, and damn none of them could even hold up to me....It was a beautiful thing :-) My dad has a 2006 Z06 corvette....DAMN that thing is fast, but a great buy as well.....
