Hufenstang, excellent find! Those stage 2 SPR cams aren't nearly as lopey as the FRPP ones by a long shot. That definitely helps with the DD aspect!

I've already done what I want to as far as bolt-ons go, so now is the time for the stuff that costs a pretty penny! One thing is for sure, my stang is a work in progress.

Well there's only emissiosn testings in a few counties in Tx around the major cities. Every where else it's a normal saftey inspection. So passing inspection is easy, go to a non-emissions county.

But Mike Murillo in San Antonio said he can make an emissions tune with LT and catted H with cams so it's ok anyway.

Also if you had a really good set of heads that were milled and properly ported, I think the mpg would either stay around the same or get better. MPG normally gets better with compression because the engine is more effecient. You could get more compression by milling the heads.

Yes, compression is your friend for high HP N/A engines.

For FI though, you want to lower the compression to get more boost.

The Thumpr and Hot Rod cams might be a little much for me. I like the slight chop to the exhaust note so the SPRs are looking like a great choice. I wouldn't want to sound like a full blown dragster sitting next to a cop at a stoplight!

I love ear sex...wait..I think that came out wrong...

Anyways, I think that if I go this route (not anytime soon mind you) the Comp Cams stage 2 SPR cams are the way to go. I would love to go FI, but the minimum 6K price tag to get all the right parts for a TS plus installation is getting to be a bit of a drag for me. I think I could be satisfied with what a set of heads and cams could do. I know that it will be pretty expensive as well, but it will still be cheaper...right?

if your not installing it yourself, it may end up costing the same to be honest with you. I havent priced a cam and head swap in awhile but i want to say its usually about 1100 dollars + all the parts and you will also need a custom dyno tune, which most sc companies give you with the s/c kit.

I cant remember but i want to say i paid 1250 for my cams/springs and phaser limiters..
Cams/springs/limiters(1250?)+heads(3K?)+installation(1100?)+tun e(250-500?)

I dont know if it would be cheaper by the time you added every thing up. A good set of LT headers alone is going to cost 1200.00. INstall on everything will be a lot higher than a simple TS Supercharger set up.

Possible but maybe not. The cost of cams + phaser limiters + springs will probably be around 1K. The cost of changing just the springs will run you a little over 1K. Then the cost of swapping cams and installing the limiters + tune.

Probably 2.5 to 3K (this is a VERY conservative estimate, it will likely be more). That would give you 50 to 60 HP for the SPR stage 2. This may be with LT though, not sure exactly.

But, Rubrignitz got 45 rwhp gain with the Hot Rods and dyno tyne from Murillo Motorsports. He also has LT and high flows with C&L Racer.
