Yea. There's 2 holes on the top for screws. The holes are counterbored and use an allen wrench. There is room to do it in place with the mirror angled out as far as it can move. When I did mine I took the mirror off the base since it just has a set screw locking it onto the windshield tab. Then I tightened the mount most of the way, put the mirror on, and tightened it a little bit more after I positioned everything where I wanted it.

this is an ignorant question, but what exactly is homelink? I thought it was the compass function but I've realized it's something completely different.

Homelink is a sort of super garage door opener. You can program the buttons to control garage door openers, security gates, lights, tv's, coffee pots, etc. I've got one in my truck that operates both garage doors and my fiberglass bed lid.

oh ok, thanks for the info. I don't want homelink then, so I think I'm just gonna look for a mirror with just a temperature reading and a compass.

Here's a link for a walkthrough I used when I put my mirror in for anyone else that may need it. It's a really easy straight forward install but the walkthrough gave me more confidence. I maily used it to figure out where to put the temp sensor and where to wire it in at.

Ok. what is that special tool that everyone talks about ?
I know I looked at my mirror and it looks like it has a small piece in the middle that is removable. After that I presume an allen set screw is holding the mirror tight..
am I on the right track here ? If not someone speak up cuz I'm doing the install soon and I don't feel like getting my self stuck at the starting point. thx

People say there's a tool that sticks into the little slot under the mirror tab but I don't know if there is one or not. People say a screwdriver and being cautious works. I didn't want to crack the windshield because it's very easy to do with too much pressure. I went to the dealership and they had nothing to get it off with and didn't want to try it. So I went to a car audio place that does security systems and these mirrors and stuff too. They did just like you said by popping the center metal piece off and then it slides right off. They charged me $20 but it was better than risking a broken windshield.

The new one I have on there just slides on the tab and then has a set screw to hold it.

$20 for a minutes worth of work?
What a racket.
They should have done it for free.
Come on, do they want your repeat busisness?
That should have been a free-bee in my book.
How much do they charge to replace a fuse?
