This has been debated on some of the RD forums and the consensus was to stay away from them. Being solid dots, they'll reduce the RD's sensitivity. Another reason why I've begun mounting mine just below the RVM (but as high as possible). High enough to clear the scoop and not interfere with my view but low enough to increase my chances of alerting to a laser hit. Damned laser has such a narrow beam, even at 1/4 mile, that it can tag your headlights, fog lights, front plate or anything else reflective and the detector may not "see" it. I need to get a Laser Interceptor (if they weren't illegal in a bunch of states) or other countermeasures.
Unfortunately and unlike radar, if you DO get a laser alert, the LEO has your speed.
