I vote for ramps! If you look at the design of the oil pan, it appears that atleast the same amount, if not more, would drain when the car is on ramps.
Why can't you just jack the front end up with a floor jack and if you're worried about getting the car level just lower it to get the last bit out then jack it back up to replace the plug and fill?
Where do you get one of these magnetic plugs anyway?
Seeing how my dealership and I no longer see eye-to-eye....I am either going to have to learn the process of changing my own oil or find someone willing to do it for me.
For this car, I use the set of low homemade ramps. Two 2 x 12's spiked together is lower than Rhino's or any of the steel ramps and is all the room I need.
I've also learned to punch a couple of holes in the filter so that there's less splashing when you break the oil filter's O-ring seal.
I do have a set of store-bought taller ramps for jobs that need a little more room to work in.

I'm trying to picture what this looks like. Could you describe that a little more? So you made 4x12's? What makes the horizontal part of the ramp?
Or are you saying you put two 2x12's together and then cut an angle out of the rectangle - so you ramp is only 4 inches high?
