I like my TomTom One XL-s... Has free map updates, bluetooth to sync with my phone and even can dial my phone book with it.

I have a Garmin nuvi 250W and I love it! I saw a write up in a popular mag. (can't remember which one) but it tested many brands and determined that Garmin was #1.

I've got a Magellan which I got at costco for $199. I used it cross country and thru Canada the past few months. I bought a dashpad beanbag thing online which was the best way I found to mount it. The regular suction cup thing sticks to the dash pad and you simply put it on the dash. Looks ok too, easy to see and reach when needed. No silly suction cup marks on the windshield and I could take the whole thing down easily when parked. It did not slide or move at all.
You need to look at what your needs are, I needed maps of Canada &n the US, ... some do not come with them. It is simple to use and the voice prompts are easy to understand.

I also have a Garmin Nuvi and like it a lot. Don't recall the model number, but I got a widescreen one (instead of the more square-shaped). I put it on the lower left driver side by the inspection sticker. I like it enough that one day I'd like to run a permanent wire over there for it.
