Default non-intercooled superchargers

wonder if it would be o.k. to run a non-intercoolered supercharger. i am not looking for the most h.p. i can get. just somewhere in the neighborhood of 410-415 h.p. i do live in pittsburgh pa. so the hot weather is not really a problem. althought i think i did experience some heat soak last year. none of my friends are gearheads but i still have some in me. i am 50 years old!! lol.....

some superchargers like the Vortech base model doesnt come with an intercooler. To answer your question you do not need an IC.

You can get the non intercooled Vortech from Brenspeed for pretty cheap, then later on if you decide they have an upgrade package to intercool it.

you'll probly be fine w/out the IC at low boost. but an IC is always a better idea. cooler IAT, heat is your engines enemy. and getting the IC in the kit will save money down the road in case you decide later to up the boost, the IC will already be in there. if you upgrade it later it will cost more money than in the kit, you will pay more for the parts then pay more for the install, or if you do it yourself its a PITA doing another install later. my suggestion is to get the IC off the bat. since you mentioned your age, older is wiser, and getting SC w/ IC is wiser too.

an intercooler is just insurance, as long as you don't run high boost, you don't really NEED it.

i am only running 8-9 psi on a HO kit w/ a bigger pulley. i will wait till i have money for a built block and then up the boost, eventually getting around 550 rwhp for the street, nothing crazy. have a long term goal, then go get it.
