Default SEAFOAM

I'm doing some scheduled maint tonight. 6 qts of 0w30 signature series amsoil, amsoil Eao11 filter and picked up some TB cleaner and this SEAFOAM, just for the hell of it cause I've heard so much about it.

I heard it really cleans your fuel/intake system but I'm apprehensive about using it. I change my fuel filter every 10k miles and use MAF cleaner/TB cleaner on those parts. I never thought I would need some other cleaner but picked up a can anyway.

How do you use this stuff??? I'm afraid to put it in my gas and it comes in a "pour" container. how do you guys use this stuff?

I've been reading some info on the "seafoam". some say to put it in your crankcase. lol! nothing will EVER go into my crankcase except pure amsoil sig series synthetic!

I've heard of running it through the TB to clean it. I may just have to sell this can of crap...

1/3 of a can in the gas tank, crank case 500 miles before your next oil change, and through the brake booster.

started doing my car at ~60k and do it every 20k. works pretty good.

it works well if your vehicle has a lot of buildup. all you do is pull off your break booster hose and slowly pour 1/3 can of seafoam in the hose (slowly and a little at a time)....as you're pouring, your call will seem to start stalling. once this happens, put your finger over the hose and allow your car to digest the seafoam. continue to do this till the 1/3 bottle has all been added. then shut off your car and let it sit for about 20 minutes. start it back up and it will blow all the crap our of your car...(possible a lot of white smoke will exit the exhuast)...then dump the rest in a low gas tank and fill it back up with fuel to mix.

agreed with above, it says to add 1/3 to crankcase but you only do that if you are planning on changing your oil within the next couple weeks.

i use it and have had nothing but success. i only use seafoam, lucas, or chevron techron fuel system cleaner

I'd heard about it when I had a leaking rear intake gasket on my 5.9L Dodge Ram truck. They said to run a can of this stuff through the intake (TB) on the truck and it would clean out all the oil/combustion chamber residue.

I was never a big fan of running anything down my intake but they said it worked wonders. I may pour a half bottle in with a full tank of fuel.

It will N-E-V-E-R go in my crankcase. lol.

goddamn, you're right. I've never associated "smoke" with "cleaning" like these pundits claim but i spent $8 on a bottle of this crap so I'm going to research before it touches my engine. thanks!

Just watched all the vids... wasted $8 but made some azone points on my card (reason why I needed to spend a bit more on this bottle of crap).

Why a waste? IMO it's not a bad idea if you plan on keeping your car for a long time. This post actually reminded me I need to run a can through mine, I do so once every about 3 months

just my 2cents, but i would never do that to a newer vehicle. specially an s197 with how touchy these engine computers are. i had an 89 ranger that had a half-blown engine and i ran a can through the brake booster vaccum hose and it worked ok. but thats an 89 rnager with the bullit-proof 2.3 liter 4 cyl. engine. i work at a car dealership as a mechanic and i have seen cars where the customer has attempted this and trust me, you can really mess things up if your not careful.
