does anyone know how much (ball-park figure) it would cost to completly paint an s197? every body shop, including ford, says i need to come down and talk to them face to face, and i dont have time for that during the work day. and when i'm off work, they're closed.

someone help please!!!

is it just a single color paint job and is it back the factory color and is there any bodywork to be done....there are lots of questions they need to ask you and thats why they want you to come in, and they want to see the car before they quote you. we can tell you what we think but prices are different in other areas of the country. mygt500 is in detroit and he is saying 5-7, I am in gulf shores alabama and I would say 3-4k.... so it has alot of variables.

A color change is almost twice the price...
Lots more labor: Jambs, trunk area, engine bay?

To do a good job on the engine bay, the motor has to be removed and all the BS cr@p fastened to the firewall, apron etc... That's 2 to 3 Grands right there alone.
Modern cars are a real PITA.

A conventional paint job (outside only) on our Mustang runs about $4K.
That includes taking the windshield out, to avoid those nasty tape lines.
That's Southern States prices. NY and Cali have about 20% more labor rates.

If you have a black car, then you can leave it black under the hood.
The Mustangs of the 60s were that way, no matter what outside color they were.

With a two-tone deal, you might escape that dilemma then...
