GT doesn't startup
Though I have had the stock motorcraft battery since day one I had a couple of times where the battery went dead after a few days of no use. I found that the Skipper 500 and 1000 can draw power if the radio is not shut off when the car is not used for any period of time to be determined by many factors (doesn't happen to all cars or yrs of the S197). I started to turn off the radio before I shut down the car and using a battery tender while in storage for months and have not had an issue since. Sometimes when you roll up the windows the switch on the drivers side could stick and cont to draw power as well even when the car is off.
Just when I thought I was safe...
This morning when trying to start the car...nothing. Just the sound of the starter grinding. DANG! The car sat for less than a week since I was on vacation.
When I turned the key to ON, the fuel pump sounded like it was having a hard time pressurizing up, like it was dragging. Then when trying to start the starter grinded and the lights (the few that were on in the dash) went dim.
After jumping it everything seems good again. I hope it'll start when I leave work today.

Just had my battery replaced under warranty on my 07 GT after it was displaying similar symptoms. Mine is not a DD, so the dealer recommended a trickle charger for any lengthy inactivity (>30 days). I am still not convinced something else was causing mine to go dead, but have implemented the "radio off before ignition off" for my shaker to eliminate that variable. Doing one last test for a couple weeks just to see if there is still some excessive current draws taking place and then will install the trickle charge for the winter.
