broke mirror, quick fix?
long story short, i broke the driver side mirror, the glass is broke and part of the inside is broke, hard to describe but its the silver torx screw, that coupling which goes into the motor is broke, i assume the motor is still good, didnt test as i was a little pissed, but i dont have the money for the agent 47 mirrors due to holiday travel real soon. is there a place where i can buy the oem mirror cheap? *hopefully* with the motor or at least the top half? part of that coupling came out with the only silver torx bolt, maybe epoxy would work, i dunno. thanks to anyone that can help or help find a oem mirror.
nice to see another SGT online,i just joined this forum to answer your question since i had to replace the driver side mirror on our SGT a few months ago. It's really easy to do!Step 1-call your dealer and order a new mirror assy, they dont sell seperate parts for these and i think they cost about $78 ea.Step 2-open the door and roll down the window, then carefully pry apart the inner cover ,using a soft tool like a plastic scraper or at least cover your pry tool in masking tape.there are three nuts holding the mirror to the door and a connecter.be careful with the foam molding so you dont damage it when you are replacing the mirror.I also took the time to apply wax to the hormally hidden paint underneath the mirror. You may also want to disconnect the battery when you do this ,but i didnt,i just made sure that i didnt leave the keys in the car. Step 3- reassemble the mirror and inner cover. dont over-tighten the nuts,or the plastic mirror "frame" will warp.Nice looking car! Ours is a black 2007 5 spd.I like the looks of the agent 47 mirrors, but i really like the big view behind me with the stockers, especially when i'm on the track!
