The photos show my connector position (slightly towards the passenger side) and the shifter height/position. I'd heard about the "leverage" idea of moving it out shortly after installation.

Two things that come to mind when I see your pics....

One, it looks like you have the connector pivoted toward the passenger seat just about like I do....

Two, you may want to elevate the shift handle some more, but, I believe your problem probably lies with the shift handle itself. Obviously, by virtue of it being a pistol grip shift handle, that is exactly how most folks would grip it. I.E., wrapping their fist around the shifter.....I believe this would lead to trying to force the shifter into gear, as opposed to allowing the shifter to seek third gear on it's own....I always shift into third with the heel of my hand pushing the shift ball toward third, and letting it seek the gate on its own, using the centering springs....

Give that a go, and see if it helps......

EXACTLY Mike! I watched my uncle grab that handle and try to muscle it up into 3rd gear over and over. i kept telling him that the return springs would do the work, just palm it and jam it up into 3rd. He finally got the hang of it. I guess the shift gates are just that much narrower between the TR3650 and muncie trans (to be expected lol).

It still takes some work for me to get it into 3rd and 4th occasionally. i think if I just lengthen the throw "ever so slightly" it will make it much easier to jam 3rd and 4th. I'm going to experiment with it this weekend...

I had mine put in about a month ago, 7 turns (couldn't do 10- lowered and sypershaft no room) and no issues with it. power shifted it at the track without issue. i may try that change to the connector to angle it toward the passenger, had not heard that one b4

In the beginning I had mine angled towards the driver's side thinking having it closer to me would be easier and it rubbed on the leather on the driver's side and eventually wore a hole. It doens't rub against the passenger side when it's angled that way?

That's exactly how I shift with the MGW....they have one of the best centering springs!...the shifter does the work. You can use 2 fingers (maybe one) and you wont miss third!
