I finally got permission from the kitchen to get the hood to replace my "perfectly good GT 500 hood". So I found a vendor in the NY Metro area ( I live in NYC) and he starts to talk me out of Trufiber. SO can any of our experienced KR hood types (Mello where are u?) let me know their opinion. Thanks

i think the only KR hood with the GT500 front is from trufiber.....

i believe mellow has the trufiber one anyways. here is a pic of his car from the cruise we just went on in san diego

Truth be told you can't buy a "REAL" KR style hood unless you have a KR. They didn't want people making "knockoffs" so they won't let let you buy the hood unless you can prove you already have a KR...has to be done by the dealership...etc.

Trufiber is the only knockoff one I've seen. The Super Snake Hood looks soo much better and is functional as well. I know it's more expensive...which makes it more rare....

that is incorrect, you can buy a real KR hood if you have a vin number of a gt500, does not have to be a KR.

but the KR hood is exactly the same as the trufiber hood, and the trufiber hood is cheaper.

You cant get a closer to original looking hood than the Trufiber. Youll be real happy, maybe even annoyed by all the attention like the papparazzi to celebrities.

I've been wondering the same thing. A lot of people I've talked to said that it costs an arm and a leg to prep the hood before painting.
