I have American Racing deep dish in chrome 18x9 with 255/45/18 in the front and 18x10 with 285/40/18 in the rear. It is a staggered setup and looks great. I get a lot of nice comments. Yes the front are deep dish but not as much as the rear. It gives two looking effects one being it looks kinda like a pro street look, and the other look being a pro touring look. I love the deep dish all the way around, plus I changed the center caps to the running tri-bar. I put the BFG kdw2 on it and it handles like a dream with the help of the Ford lowering kit. They are a better handling and looking tire than the nittos, imo. One thing to remember is A.R. rims are better quality than the A.M rims. I have seen those rims in person and the chrome finish is far better. To each is own,and you cannot go wrong with the deep dish in the front,it still looks staggered. People often think my wheels are factory, and that is the exact look I was trying to get. Good luck with your decision.

Suggestions? I'm looking at putting some AM Bullitt deep dish wheels/Nitto Tires on the GT. Any opinions on the Nitto Tires? Never used them before but they look like a decent tire for the money. Thanks.
Since no one is addressing your specific question with regards to handling, I'll give my opinion: The fact that your proposed rim sizes are staggered will not improve handling, it really has little to do with handling. Your tire choices - both brand and size are what will affect handling. For example - you can fit 275/40 on any rim width 9-11 inches. Thus its not the rim width that will improve or make worse the handling.

However, since you are thinking staggered, that probably means you will in fact mount wider tires on the back (I would). Wider tires mean more rubber on road means more grip = better handling, but highly dependent on the tires you select of course. But think about this - These cars have a lot of understeer as it is, increasing the grip at the rear end more than the front (bigger tire in rear than front) will only exacerbate the understeer. Meaning - near or at the limit of traction the car will be even more prone to understeer. But...most drivers never reach the car's limit any way so it really doesn't matter. Also keep in mind with staggered you can not rotate front to rear, if you do lots of miles this will decrease the tire life expectency.

FYI for everyone - BFG KDWs are backordered nation wide

Sorry I didn't answer your question. Tires is the best upgrade you can do for handling, then suspension. I think the staggered look set up that I have increased my handling tremendously over the stock 18x8.5 with the BFG g force. It is the same tire set up,speaking about size,as the GT500. Yes it will handle better, imo and you will hook up better with the 285's in the rear. I could have gone wider in the rear as well as the front. Go for the staggered look with deep dish all the way around. Just remember the deep dish in the front is not as deep in the rear.

'Ya zporta, you make a good point. Besides personal preference, it can have a lot to do with what other external appearance mods you have done. Personally on my Black GT, I have Chrome Deep Dish 9" wheels with 255/45/18 up front and 10.5" with 285/40/18 out back all on Nitto's. Looks absolutely amazing....!!!
