Default "Check Fuel Cap" Error Message

I'm posting this up for a friend of mine, he has a 2007 v6. He said everytime he starts the car up, the message "Check Fuel Cap" comes on and he hits reset to clear it, but every 10-15 minutes it pops up again. He said he has checked the fuel cap many times and it is on there nice and tight, any ideas?

I had this happen to me once on the highway, I kept resetting
and it keeps showing up every 10-15 minutes like you said.
I checked the cap and everything was fine.

The message cleared itself after about 50 miles of driving
and never showed up again. That's about 2 years ago.

possibly a leak somehow with it. Replace it will another stock cap and see, if that doesnt do it then take it to a dealer, should be warranty work.

My dad had it happen, took it to the dealer and they replaced it under warranty.
He has an '07 V6.
No charge.

"I have a friend who says" to check the seal under the cap for damage. But ditto the warranty shot.

Ask your friend to join the forum if he hasn't already...

mine did it and I reset my tune on the SCT2 , never seen it since. If you don't have a tuner then I don't know.
