Default Widest tire on s197?

Whats the widest you guys have seen fit on the s197. I'm looking at some YOKOHAMA ADVEN SPORT HIGH PERFORMANCE 315/ZR30-18 on ebay for a reasonable price. Would they stick out too much or look weird? Will be mounted on 18x10 black chrome fr500's from cruizin concepts.

They would reduce your performance, significantly, it would be like loosing 25 hp due to their width. I wouldn't go with anything more than a 275 on your car.

300 rwhp = 275
450 = 305
600 = 325-335

Furthermore besides that point they are 10 inches smaller than stock. You'd need a 315/40/18 or a 305/40/20 because actually those look like 20" foose wheels.

a) no way in hell are they 10 inches smaller than stock... maybe 10mm. As for feeling like you lost 25 hp, I'm gonna call BS. I have 285's out back and it feels perfectly fine. I will agree that 275 is probably as wide as you "need," but on a 10" wide rim, I'd go with at least a 285 tire. I know there are guys that run 315's on these cars, but I'm not sure if they stick out a whole lot. I'd be hesitant to go that wide on a 10" rim, though... If it was an 18x11, then yeah, go for it, but you're going to be pinching your sidewalls with a 315 on 18x10's. I'd go with a 285/40/18 or 295/40/18 in your case.

I had 275s on my 20s and they are not wide enough. Im in the process of ditching the 20s for 18s...

So a wider tire is going to reduce my performance? I thought it would help it if anything, (traction?)

It's a give take.

I'm only running an 8.5 rim with a 245 Yokohama Advan but I don't have any problems, and I most certainly don't granny her.
I cut a 1.8 60 foot on em

What i'm saying though, is i'm pushing 80+ more rwhp with a smaller tire, on stock suspension minus springs and non adjustable shocks/struts, shouldn't be a big deal unless your just going for looks

I have no clue what legion5 is talking about.

315/30/18 will be just over 1" shorter then stock. 10 inches shorter? And wether or not the tire will stick out depends on your offset on your rims.

Who really knows what Legion5 is EVER talking about, but regardless, I don't see how a 315 tire will REDUCE your performance, it's just heavier correct? If it fits, I say go for it.
