It's a manual. I am waiting on the supercharger as I have been told that the rings will crumble at 10,000 miles or there about. I did see in MMFF that stated the stainless steel rings were not the best choice when adding a SC. I am leaning toward the Saleen as is produces the least amount of boost....

As for the gas milage with 4.10's, If I was worried about milage, I would have bought a toyata!
Crumbling rings at 10K... that doesn't sound good... where did you hear/read that? I read the MMFF article, too. There were some encouraging things in it as well. I'm also in the Saleen S/C camp at the moment... for the same reason.

And if I was worried about mileage, I would have bought a V6 2005 Mustang!! No reason to give up the great styling!! No Toyota for me...

I checked rpms at 55 mph today with 4.10's

4 th gear 55 mph were 2700

5 th gear 55 mph were 2000

That's pretty good info considering that I'm just waiting on the SCT. 4.10's are in the back yard along with the Steeda CAI and the Borla cat-backs.

I'm not worried about gas miliage. I have a company car making my stang a weekend joy ride!!!!!

Just like the rest of you guys, I can't wait to gets those mods in there.... don_w let me know how those gears feel...

Personally, I think the Motive are every bit as good, maybe even better made than FRPP. The noise issues were actually with Reichert Racing gears a bit back. Most of the time that can be corrected with proper shimming.
They don't list those as fitting the 2005... is there a difference in the rearends between 2004 & 2005?

They also show a 3.90 ratio ( http://www.mustangtuning.com/motive390.html )... if those fit, that may be a good alternative between 3.73 & 4.10... hmmm... decisions, decisions.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you will need the 8.8 rearend gears form the 2005 Mustang GT. So although the Motive gears in the above link don't specifically state they should be compatible.

Dear Don W and Troden,

OK!!!

Vortech S/C is out because it will undoubtedly crumble my rings at 10,000 miles, RIGHT???

I hate having crumbled rings, don't you???

So, a Saleen S/C is better???

How confusing...

Dave

Hey fella's I have 4.10's in my V6.... made a big difference and gas milage is still just as good as it was prior to changing gears. I also have 05 V6 with exterior and interior upgrades, Shaker 1000 that has never given me a problem, CAI kit, Xcal and Magnaflow Axleback. Running about 198 HP at the wheels, hope to get over the 200 marker with some new headers sometime soon.... Na, it's not a GT, but pretty damn good for 21,900. Here in the DC area GT's were running 31-34K.

Here is the reply from a mechanic when I asked about which brabd S/C to consider.

"Had them all. The positive displacement blowers make the best overall power. The centrifugals make the best peak. Both will turn the ring lands into crumbles within 10k miles. The top ring land will start to break down just because it is handling pressures way above the design specs. The top ring will start to rock and sooner or later it will let go."

I saw that as well and figured that while a 3.73 may feel marginal compared to my 3.55, a 3.90 might be the perfect alternative/compromise.

I've got 52k on my blower and still going strong at 10 psi on a stock engine.
