2008 s197 Hood Corrosion?
I am looking to purchase a new 2008 (maybe 2009) Mustang GT. After spending some time on these forums, there is only one thing that has been been making me question my decision and that is the paint bubbling from corrosion.
It seems that this is a very prominent issue found in the 05-07, and I've read an occurrence with an 08 even.
It doesn't sound as if Ford has fixed this problem in the 08s & 09s but is it enough to really make a person reconsider purchasing a new 08/09 GT? I've read mostly that dealerships have been fixing the problem but I'd like to get down to the bottom of this and potential other issues so i know what lay ahead.
Is this issue minor? Is it merely an issue that will inevitably come about to every s197 owner and either has the situation rectified by the dealer or just simply has those corroded areas retouched by a professional? Or is this problem one that basically leads to repainting the whole car within 5 years of ownership.
I appreciate the feedback from the members here. I am on the cusp of getting a Mustang and am simply covering all bases. Thanks.

08 Hood Corrosion
Wow, the response time is amazing on this forum.
I guess it seems prominent once you've done a search on forums and people that have been affected by this problem all chime in making it seem like it is commonly found. I am aware of the fact that people that don't have this issue go unrepresented as they wouldn't post that they are corrosion free - for the most part.
I've read anywhere from this corrosion issue being a spreading cancer, to just being a touch up job from a bodyshop so I'm trying to gauge the magnitude and see whether this is a matter of concern when thinking of purchasing a new GT.
Thanks.

I agree that paintjobs are not perfect but I don't think it is justifiable on a 2 year old car to have bubbling on the paint.
I think I just want to understand the severity should I encounter such after ownership.

I'm thinking there are a lot worse things that could be a "prominent issue" with this vehicle. Granted, I've only had my '08 GT for about 4 months, but still. The Mustang is reliable as hell. Personally, I wouldn't let a paint issue preclude me from owning such a great car...
Correct me if I'm wrong; bubbling paint within 2 years is covered under warranty?
Any car can simply give you tons of problems without warning. Any car can also give you 150,000+ miles of trouble-free ownership. Quality in just about anything these days is a crapshoot. Take it or leave it...Stangs rule.

The paint issue is covered in the 10year corrosion warranty btw.
Secondly, I have seen what these people complain about. The shops fix these hood perfectly. The hood is all alu btw and this is why the paint is an issue. This issue hapens when during the paint process dust hits the bare metal. And again its covered.
There are forum members that already have over 100k on the odometer with no issues.
