Sadly they say it's not a direct replacement for the normal s197 without specifying if there are additional parts available to make it work.

I saw in the FRPP catalog where that part number had reduced assist, but no of mention whether it was a quicker ratio.

Batman - I'm trying to determine if your steering inputs might be just a little late or possibly you're getting a little behind and then have to add a little extra steering lock. There's another current thread ("what was ford thinking? 20 point turns") that might involve steering ratio being a little slower than at least one sporty import and I'm thinking these "problems" may be related.

one of our sponsors sells K-MEMBERS that take the pinto style rack an pinion (the key word is style) I'm sure there are a lot of ratios available (pinto style). I love a manual rack over most power racks mainly because of the feed back they give. you can let go of the wheel and your front tires will follow the road no matter how sideways you are (unless your past its lock ) most of the time they are used for drag racing due to weight savings and power steering delete gives more available hp. The ratio would provide you with varying degrees of feed back .You probably wouldn't want to use one if you are wanting to Run a lot of front caster because that would make the manual rack harder to turn.
Heres the sponsor link.

I'm always hearing how the S197 is way OVER-assisted. The reduced assist or manual rack may be the ticket. I don't need to be able to turn my wheel with the pinky finger, especially with this hoola hoop wheel ford gave us.

heck, maybe just a smaller wheel would cure your problem. personally I'd love a much smaller wheel. I hate this big fat gnarly wheel.

My 85' GT had a perfect steering wheel...

Yeah i drove my dads new 335i and i love the steering, after driving that and driving my car i realized how much the steering wheel was a POS.

I've had many, many hot rods and sports cars. the steering wheel in this S197 is the biggest joke I've ever handled. My 85's wheel makes this thing look like an oversized joke along with the tilt adjustment.

hell, my 01' camaros wheel make this things size/tilt a joke too.

The steering wheel is second only to the parking brake in the "most hated interior item" department for me.

I like our steering wheel, with the aluminum trim though.
Does it make me weird??
