Default removing my cats...ya or na

If I remove my cats, would that make my exhaust sound louder and deeper? What about performance? Would it mess with the cars over all health? Now that my warranty has run out. Ive giving more thought about modding the car. What would yall suggest for some mods? Thanks all...!
Only have a C&L intake/tune with flowmasters.

I have Flowmaster A/T axel backs and a custom made off road H pipe. Sounds amazing in my opinion. Has that little raspiness to it.

Not my car but the following videos have flowmaster mufflers with the summit o/r h pipe:

If your state doesn't inspect for cats, then don't remove the stock cats instead get an O/R pipe. I know here in Cali, if you remove or the police finds out you remove your cats, then you pay a heavy fine.

Leave the cats on, get the O/R pipe.

I am guessing that's for removing or gutting the cats. I would suspect that you would still pay heavy fine but not as heavy for driving with an O/R pipe. I think by removing the factory cats you will pay a penalty for tampering with emission/pollution controlled item.
