I'm just NW of Huntsville... so what, about 120 miles north?
Yep, but its the longest 120 miles I have ever driven.

I live in San Jose California.

I was told by the Ford Parts Guys of people getting greif cause they did not have a Ford filter on their car. I bought the 75k extended warranty. I think I'll buy my filters from Ford, then they'll porbably have a record of my purchases to boot.
There's a good post on here somewhere that explains that as [sm=bs.gif].
It's nothing more than an "arm twist" to get you to pay their outrageous prices and buy Ford stuff.
Complete bunk.

This is what a drain plug magnet takes care of
Will it instantly catch every fragment before it circulates many times? no.
Oil does not constantly pass by the magnet, even if it did it would not catch it all.
A magnet will only attract ferrous metals, bearings and other particulate matter are non ferrous.

I use a few neodymium magnets on my oil filter, more effective than a weak drain plug magnet catching what might happen to come within a 1/4 inch.

Exactly.
Auto makers cannot make you use their brand of oil/ filters unless they provide them to you free. Pure marketing hype BS.
